About Lynda

Lynda is a fully qualified, experienced integrative counsellor, CBT therapist and clinical hypnotherapist, providing individual time-limited and longer-term counselling.

Her integrative training enables her to draw upon a range of approaches including transactional analysis, cognitive behavioural therapy and person-centred therapy, to help clients explore what brings them to therapy.

She works with individuals and couples on relationship issues, anxiety, depression and abuse issues, amongst many other things.

Lynda believes it is important to tailor her approach to the needs of the individual, as one approach is not appropriate for everyone. As a counsellor, she will not tell clients what to do or take control of their lives. She is non-judgmental, accepts clients unconditionally and supports them through a journey of self-discovery, empowering them to take control of their lives, in a confidential and safe environment.

Experience

Lynda worked at a local hospice offering bereavement counselling for a number of years with adults of all ages and backgrounds. She also has experience of counselling children in both primary and secondary schools for a domestic violence organisation, along with experience working with adults and couples in private practice. She has over 18 years of experience.

Alongside her private practice, Lynda is a trauma therapist for the PFOA. She hosts meditation group workshops, wellbeing days for corporate clients and CPD events for other counsellors and clinical supervisors.

In her previous career she worked as a business manager for a large corporate dental company, so she has both experience and understanding of the impact of workplace stress.

How sessions work

The number of sessions required varies from client to client. The initial session is an opportunity to talk about what someone is looking for from counselling, and how best to meet those needs. If Lynda is not the right person to be of assistance at that stage, she will endeavour to identify a suitable alternative option.

She offers both time-limited counselling (typically 6–12 sessions) and open-ended, long-term counselling. All sessions are for the therapeutic hour of 50 minutes, with progress reviewed on a regular basis.

Couples counselling

Relationships can become burdensome, conflicting and troublesome, and leave people feeling frustrated, despondent and sad. When this begins to happen, it is usually wise to address the issues before they become worse. Couples often turn a blind eye and brush their troubles under the carpet until the problems worsen and become unbearable. Without help, the outcome can be separation — which is often painful for both parties and their families.

Talking therapy can help couples decide the best way forward, whether that is repairing the relationship or finding a clearer, more considered path through what comes next.

Confidentiality

Lynda offers client confidentiality — no information is ever disclosed without the client's consent, except under legal obligations, for example child protection.
